Development Associate (Part-time, Contract), American Alliance for Theatre and Education

AATE has an immediate opportunity for a Development Associate, a fundraising professional to create and implement plans and strategies to achieve contributed revenue goals. This is a temporary part-time position with the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff following this short-term contract.

Duties include: Work with the Executive Director to develop and begin implementation of annual fundraising plan focusing on: Foundations and Government Grants; Major Gifts and Sponsorships from Individual and Corporate Donors; Annual Fund Gifts and Renewals; In Kind Gifts; Special Events; Endowment Gifts; Donor Relations; Prospect Research

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree, 2-3 years related experience, preferably in arts education-related fund raising, to include experience with grant writing and the production of corporate sponsorship and philanthropic giving proposals. Superior writing skills are essential. Knowledge of current trends in online fundraising and general philanthropy is desired along with excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Suite. Experience utilizing eTapestry software preferred. Proven ability to set priorities and meet deadlines; ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion, a proven ability to work successfully with others to achieve institutional objectives; ability to analyze and present information effectively and respond to questions from board members, donors, members, and the general public. Ability to interact with donors and prospects by email, on the phone, in print and in person with ease. An appreciation of theatre, theatre for young audiences, educational theatre, youth theatre, and/or professional experience in the performing arts or arts membership organizations is strongly preferred.

Director, Dance & Theatre Department, Manhattanville College

The Dance & Theatre Department at Manhattanville College is seeking a Director. Applicant must demonstrate commitment to performing arts within the Liberal Arts context, extensive teaching and administrative experience in higher education, experience as Artistic Director/Producer, dedication to integration of dance and theatre forms, commitment to educational and applied theatre. Applicant must have proven ability to direct student productions, including Shakespeare, teach theatre history, dramatic literature, criticism , areas of Performance Studies, and a variety of contemporary, innovative performance techniques, with particular emphasis on physical theatre. Must be able to lead through consensus, work collaboratively with faculty and Associate Director, and develop strategies for recruitment. An MFA or PhD is required. Tenure track appointment beginning August 2012.

Long-term Substitute Drama Teacher, National Presbyterian School

National Presbyterian School, an independent, coeducational 276 student elementary (N-6thgrade) day school located in Upper Northwest Washington, DC is conducting a search for a long-term substitute Drama Teacher for the second semester of the 2011-2012 school year.

Founded in 1969 as an educational mission of The National Presbyterian Church, National Presbyterian School is a traditional, co-educational elementary school dedicated to educational excellence in an ecumenical Christian environment. A loving and inclusive community, NPS strives to help children develop intellectual, spiritual, and personal foundations that will serve them throughout their lives.

The Drama Teacher is responsible for teaching weekly drama classes to students in Nursery- Grade 6, leading and/or assisting with grade level performances including a Shakespearean performance in Grade 5, and assisting with the Spring Musical. Ideal candidates will have experience creating and implementing a standards-based drama curriculum in an elementary school setting, and knowledge of teaching process drama, creative drama, acting, Shakespeare, and playwriting. A degree in Theatre for Youth or Educational Theatre preferred.
