Associate Artist, Education and Outreach, InterAct Story Theatre, Silver Spring, MD

InterAct Story Theatre, a touring theatre for young audiences with an emphasis on applied arts and arts integration, seeks a part-time Associate Artist, Education and Outreach. Core responsibilities include teaching students preK-8 and working closely with fellow InterAct staff to help coordinate education/outreach programming, develop curriculum and study guide materials, and assist with the company’s outreach, grantwriting and marketing initiatives. Based on the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise, additional opportunities may be available in teaching artistry, program creation and production, social media/marketing, and company administration. This is a part-time position with the opportunity for growth within the company.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Theatre for Youth, Theatre Education or related field, or commensurate experience. Background and experience as a teaching artist in the classroom. Facility with MS Office and comfort working with web- and cloud-based applications required; interest in social media, blogging, and online communications a plus. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills as well as the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative atmosphere. This position allows for flexibile scheduling and telecommuting around a core schedule. Initial part-time salary of $13,500 - $15,000 DOE for this 11-month/school-year position starting in mid-August.
