Chair of Theatre and Dance Department/Middle School Teacher/Director, Episcopal Academy

The Episcopal Academy is a PK-12 coed day school located in Newtown Square, PA. The school was founded in 1785 and in 2008 moved to a brand new campus in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, where it offers state of the art facilities that include a 600 seat proscenium theater, as well as an intimate black box theater. The Academy seeks a dynamic, theatre educator for the position of Theatre and Dance Department Chair, who will direct the middle school theatre program and oversee the academy’s drama, theatre and dance programs in lower, middle and upper school. The successful candidate will be well versed in the national standards for theatre and dance education across all grade levels, and will be a champion of creative dramatics in the lower school and more formal theatre education and production in the middle and upper schools. An MA or MFA in Theatre/Theatre Education and/or comparable professional experience is preferred.

Candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills; administrative and budget experience; a passion for teaching and directing middle school students; and strong physical stamina and energy. The Chair reports to the Upper School Head and is responsible for supporting teachers within the Theatre and Dance Department and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration among colleagues.

Executive Director, San Diego Junior Theatre

San Diego Junior Theatre, the oldest continuing children’s theatre program in the country, is looking for an Executive Director. This independent, non-profit organization provides engaging, innovative and high-quality theatre education and productions to enhance the lives of children of all ages, cultural backgrounds, abilities and levels of interest. SDJT operates for the benefit of children throughout San Diego County; since 1948, its productions have entertained more than a million theatergoers of all ages.

The job summary for the position of Executive Director is as follows:

· Responsible for the consistent achievement of the organization’s mission and financial objectives.

· Oversees all aspects of the organization, including financial, educational, artistic, human resources, and communications.

· Plans, directs and implements a comprehensive development program that generates individual donor, foundation, and corporate support.

· Provides vision and leadership for artistic and educational programs.

· Creates and maintains a stakeholder-friendly environment, such that Board members, families, staff, alumni, volunteers and friends contribute to and feel a part of Junior Theatre.

· Manages staff in a professional, knowledgeable, and motivational manner.

· Effectively represents Junior Theatre in the community.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; experience managing a non-profit organization; fundraising skill, knowledge and experience; background in the theatre arts; experience working with children, young adults, and families; ability to think strategically; direct supervisory experience; effective communication, mentoring and partnering skills.

Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in theatre, education, arts management or related area; advanced degree in relevant area; successful track record as leader of a non-profit arts organization; network of contacts in the San Diego region; significant personal experience in the performing arts; strong budgeting and financial management skills.

Education Program Manager, Nashville Children's Theatre

Nashville Children's Theatre, the nation’s oldest professional theatre for young audiences, is hiring an Education Program Manager. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day logistics of a successful camp and class environment and coordinating community engagement programs. The Education Program Manager reports to the Director of Education and supervises a part-time education assistant.

Major areas of responsibility include:

  • Refine and uphold logistical and administrative policies and procedures for NCT Education programs.
  • Provide mentorship to teaching artists, interns and volunteers to ensure that NCT educational curriculum is successfully delivered.
  • Collaborate in developing curriculum guides and support materials that explore content, themes and issues in the Theatre’s productions.
  • Support professional development offerings that will further the implementation of arts integration techniques and practices by educators and school administrators in Middle Tennessee.

The successful candidate will be a personable, positive, and diplomatic individual with integrity, an exceptional work ethic, creativity, sense of humor, an appreciation of theatre, and a desire to empower children. Familiarity with Mac and PC working environments, a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years professional experience in theatre education is required. Advanced degree in related area preferred. This position is a full-time, salaried, benefits eligible position with an annual salary in the high $20s.
