Job Description:
The Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Texas at Austin is accepting applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position to collaborate in the leadership of a rigorous undergraduate program in K-12 theatre teacher education. Terminal degree, including M.F.A., Ph.D. or Ed.D., with emphasis in pre-college drama/theatre pedagogy; a minimum of three years full-time pre-college classroom and production experience and a minimum of three years successful college level teaching in theatre teacher education.

Teaching responsibilities may include one or more of the following: urban and multi-lingual/multi-cultural drama/theatre education; K-12 theatre program development; theory of teaching/learning in theatre/drama; assessment and evaluation models in theatre/drama; development of new work with pre-college students; and freshman through senior colloquia; as well as advising and mentoring undergraduate students.

The successful candidate should be active in national professional organizations. Experience working with underserved populations and experience in development of college level theatre education curricula, practicum experiences and program administration desirable. The successful candidate may have opportunities to participate in development of a summer Masters program for teachers or to co-direct a UTeach program in theatre studies. Familiarity with Texas and national curriculum frameworks, standards and licensure requirements desirable.

EDUCATION TEACHING APPRENTICE/RESIDENT TEACHING ARTIST

Hartford Stage in Hartford, CT is seeking full-time Education Teaching Apprentices for 9/8/09-8/27/10. Ideal candidates will have a degree in theatre, experience working with youth and either performance or direction, interest in developing a career in theatre education, and have excellent communication skills. Performance experience, movement/dance background, and/or work in community outreach helpful. Actor driven program will provide intensive practical classroom and youth theater experience in one of the fastest growing education departments in the country. This program is a very rigorous, hands on program that offers our apprentices professional mentorship, experiences in an extremely diverse set of programs, and the opportunity to build strong relationships at our theater and in the community.
