Internship Opportunities at AATE National Office

The National Office of the American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE) in Bethesda, Maryland seeks a graduate or undergraduate student with an interest in theatre, education, arts administration, or related field for an internship in one of the following areas: marketing, event planning, membership, research and development and publications. Ideally, an AATE internship will combine some of these areas. It is a great opportunity to become familiar with the inner-workings of a non-profit arts organization. A part-time, flexible schedule, with some telecommuting is permitted. Full-time internships are also available for those pursuing university credit.

DUTIES:
Internship duties may include: contributing to the planning and implementation of new projects, resource development, member/customer service, event planning, data entry, basic clerical duties, and individual projects. Such projects may include website design, marketing and development initiatives, policy research, and participating in planning the 2010 Theatre In Our Schools Month and Conference activities. Duties will vary based on organizational needs, individual preferences and skill set.

REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic internet and email programs. Keen interest in theatre and/or education required. Ideal candidate will 1) be enrolled in a full or part-time college or university program in theatre, education, arts administration, or related field; 2) be proficient in computer/ internet skills; 3) be dependable, dedicated, and professional; 4) have excellent communication skills.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:
AATE Interns will have the opportunity to network with professionals in theatre and education and to interact directly with the AATE Board of Directors and other leaders in the field. Internship is unpaid, but University credit may be arranged. A complimentary annual membership to the organization will also be given, and will be valid one year from end date of internship. Additional benefits may also include some meals and event tickets. Qualified students may work for discounted admission to 2010 Events, when available.
