Director of Youth Programs, Mosiac Youth Theatre

Mosaic's mission is to empower young people to maximize their potential through professional performing arts training and the creation of first-rate theatrical and musical art.

Job Description
The Director of Youth Programs provides the leadership, strategic direction, management and coordination for the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit Programs Department. The Director of Programs oversees the planning and implementation of all Mosaic programs, productions and workshops. The Director of Programs is responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with Mosaic programs staff, sponsors, parents and young artists. The Director of Programs is a member of Mosaic’s senior management team, reporting to the COO.

Primary Responsibilities
· Supervises Associate Artistic Director of Music, Director of Acting, Youth Support Director, Program Administrator and First Stage Administrator on curriculum, evaluation, budgetary, strategic planning objectives and day to day operations of the Programs department.

· Manages the design, implementation and management of curriculum for all Mosaic programs and workshops. Evaluates programs, workshops, curriculum and staff based on the Mosaic Model of Youth Development through the Arts.

· Ensures Main Stage staff and First Stage contractors receive the training and orientation necessary to ensure the effective, out-come driven execution of their assigned responsibilities.

· Acts as department liaison to Operations, Marketing and Development staff and coordinates information needed for program marketing and youth recruitment, grant application and reporting, productions, community performances and Mosaic business operations.

· Takes a proactive role in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of program funding sources.

· Oversees the management of program documentation.

· Provides program reports to CEO, Development staff, Board of Directors, funders and sponsors on a regular basis.

· Manages the Programs Department in a fiscally sound manner, ensuring that the appropriate systems, staffing and procedures are in place to support the achievement of youth development, artistic and financial goals. This includes developing and managing Programs line items in the organizational budget.

· Recruits and manages communications with the Arts & Youth Development Advisory Committee.

· Occasionally facilitates workshops on behalf of Mosaic in alignment with the Mosaic Model of Youth Development through the Arts.

· Serves as a visible spokesperson and advocate for Mosaic’s mission and programs in the community.

· Other duties as determined and deemed necessary due to job requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree
3-5 years management and administrative experience
3-5 years experience working with youth ages 11-18
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time
Demonstrated high level of integrity and leadership skills.
Ability to manage large projects to their conclusions.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to work cohesively with peers
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Competent in Word, Outlook, Excel, Social Media and Explorer

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment varies.
