Resident Teaching Artist, Metro Theatre Company

Metro Theater Company (St. Louis, MO), recognized nationally for its creativity, flexibility, collaboration and frontline community engagement, seeks a highly-qualified, experienced and energetic Resident Teaching Artist. Resident Teaching Artist works closely with the Education and Artistic Directors to increase capacity for Metro Theater Company’s education programs. Resident Teaching Artist plans and teaches arts-integrated K-12 school and community-based residencies, as well as supervises and teaches selected out-of-school programs. Resident Teaching Artist works as an integral part of the education team to design, plan, and implement new programs, and networks with current and potential partners to increase the reach of Metro Theater Company’s education programs. The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in Theater for Youth or Theater Education and five plus years of experience teaching drama to young people across a wide age range. Experience in creative drama and arts integration strategies in the K-12 curriculum is required; knowledge of Theater of the Oppressed is a plus. Familiarity with authentic assessment and documentation strategies is also a plus. The ideal candidate will be current on trends and issues in education/arts education. The Resident Teaching Artist will work alongside a small, highly-skilled staff in a dynamic, creative environment. Full time, seasonal. Start date: Mid-August 2011. EOE.
