Tenure Track Faculty, BFA Acting; Brigham Young University

The BYU Theatre and Media Arts Department has a continuing faculty status (similar to tenure) track, professorial faculty position opening in BFA Acting. The department consists of twenty-three full-time faculty members in Theatre and Media Arts (TMA) in the College of Fine Arts and Communications at Brigham Young University, forty miles south of Salt Lake City in Provo, UT. TMA has approximately 400 undergraduate majors, about 100 of whom are BFA majors within Acting or Music Dance Theatre.

Position announcement:
The Brigham Young University Department of Theatre and Media Arts is seeking applicants to fill a full-time, tenure track, faculty position in its BFA Acting program for stage/screen. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in voice, diction, and dialects. Additional teaching will include courses in acting, audition technique, improvisation, and acting in music theatre, as well as an annual university directing assignment. Professional creative work in acting and/or directing is expected. This position will include appropriate administrative responsibilities, student advisement, and regular service within the department, university, community, and national professional organizations.

Qualifications:
Terminal degree required; MFA in acting preferred. Training in a specific voice and speech pedagogy will be heavily considered. Preference given to candidates with a record of professional work in acting and/or directing, voice coaching, and college level teaching experience.
